Wildflower Smudge Sticks
HOW TO CLEANSE YOUR SPACE AND SPIRIT
Set your intention or mantra and repeat this throughout the process. Open any doors or windows to help create a pathway for negative energy and smoke. Have a fireproof vessel such as an abalone shell or ceramic dish to catch any fallen embers. Light the wildflower sage and allow it to burn for about 20 seconds.
Gently blow on the flame so you see the embers turn orange. You will likely have to repeat this process as you move through your space. Gently motion the smoke upwards starting at the entry of your space and work your way clockwise through the room or space. Don’t forget corners or spaces that could hold stuck energy. You can also use a feather or fanning tool to send the smoke upward. Once you have walked your space extinguish your sage out in a fireproof vessel.
NOTE: if doing this on yourself work your way around your body being careful of your clothing and hair, moving and cleansing the energy.
SAFETY: Safety first! Watch for dropped embers and always use a fireproof vessel to catch. Try not to inhale the smoke. Extinguish
BENEFITS
Sage belongs to the Salvia plant family and derived from the Latin word salvere, which means “to heal.” Spiritually speaking, burning sage is also thought to ward off negativity and toxicity.
HISTORY
In many cultures, sage is used in a ceremonial or ritual manner. A sacred process that allowed communication with the spiritual realm or a greater connection to the earth or all living things.
