Pack your bags...class opens THIS Friday!

It’s time to gather your art supplies and pack your “pretend bags” to Thailand! Class is open on Friday, December 10th! There is still time to follow along with us on this art journey to Thailand. Early registration pricing of $40 (ends December 10 at 11:00pm MST).

I love finding ways to connect to a country from afar. In addition to our art lessons, here are some ways I connect to inspire my artwork. I love to make a meal from the country we are studying or visit a local restaurant, do a craft with my kids or friends, find a documentary or book that can inspire my work, talk to a friend or relative that has lived or visited the area if its a place I have never been, learn a few words or phrases, and explore art galleries in the region virtually. Below are some additional ways to bring aspects of Thailand into your studio or home.

MY THAILAND INSPIRED ARTIST BAG

01. Very Bangkok Book Explore the contrasting environments of modern and traditional aspects of the culture through this interesting book!

02. LadyMade Ceramic Paint Dishes The first palettes I discovered were from LadyMade Ceramics. These would be the perfect addition to add to your artist travel bag or studio!

03. Cuyana Wide Brimmed Summer Hat To protect from the subtropical Thai sunshine or to block the sun while trying to draw in your journal when outside your home this summer sunhat is perfect for your travels near or far.

04. Liquitex Bright Gold Ink Throughout our class, I use this gold ink to get all those ornate details seen all over Thailand. When you mix water it adds a nice subtle shine to your artwork or you can put the ink onto your artwork without water for a saturated gilded look.

05. Sakura Pigma Micron Pens These are one of my go to travel art supplies. They come in a variety of sizes and are permanent so you can easily paint over them with your watercolors without worrying about them bleeding on the page.

06. Anthropologie Jumpsuit With the tropical climate you want something casual and lightweight, this jumpsuit is easy to pack for your trip to Thailand or to lounge in around the house.

07. Small Pochade Box When traveling, you don’t always have a place to setup your journal or paper. This Pochade box holds your materials, has a palette, and is perfect for on the go work.

08. Carved Lotus Flower Box Little boxes and bags can be so helpful to hold your charcoal, pastels, and other small mediums. Why not have one that is beautiful to boot!

09. Ocean Paper Watercolors These watercolors are milky and gorgeous and can be individually purchased or as a set. I picked these colors to match our palette from class but find the palette that works best for you!

10. Batik Pom Pom Journal A handmade journal to use for your travel drawings and mixed media work made with textiles from Thailand.

11. Satya Lotus Necklace I love Satya’s beautiful gold jewelry and the lotus emblem embodies your own artistic awakening.

12. Baan: Recipes and Stories from Thai Home Book The perfect book to bring Thai food into your home and connect to the culture and spices of Thailand from afar.
