Kenya Art Passports Farewell!

KK_ArtPassports_Kenya_Title.jpg

From the great animal migrations, wildlife safaris, vast landscapes and great diversity in ethnicity Kenya was quite the country to research and learn about. I gathered so much inspiration for both my art and my life. I was particularly inspired in my artwork by the tribes. The customs, rejection of Western culture, and their day to day lives were amazing to dive into. Again, I can only scratch the surface of any country in only a month of a study but my goal is to take something from each place and apply different ideas to either my personal life or to my artwork. Each country continues to amaze and inspire me on this Art Passports journey.

Local Cuisine

I failed to take photos of our cuisine this month but we did try a few local dishes that we altered slightly from the below recipes. These recipes and others can be found on my Pinterest board here. We ended up making Kachumbari which is a Kenyan tomato and onion salad, Uagli which is a staple in Kenya and is a cornmeal porridge, and garlic and cumin Ndengu as our main dish (RECIPE). Another dish that looked amazing was a coconut curry chicken dish called Kuku Paka. I would have used potatoes instead of the chicken here but the dishes were all fairly simple but full of flavor.
