FREE Art Lesson on Color Mixing
I wanted to share a FREE LESSON on color mixing! A portion of the video is specific to our Seascapes of Maine class and supplies but the second portion goes through mixing colors from only six colors.
I have often been asked from students what are good alternatives to Charvin paints. I love the unique colors that Charvin has to offer BUT I know they are expensive and don’t fit everyone’s budget. I LOVE these paints but I have spent many years collecting my supplies. You can recreate similar colors with alternative paints. My favorite alternative paint brands are Liquitex and Goldens but you can use craft paints as well.
When you take any of our classes, I don't want you to go out and buy every supply on our supply lists. My intention in sharing the supplies is so that you can see exactly what I use throughout my classes in case there is a new supply you would like to add to your practice. Use what works best with your art practice and budget!
Through this lesson, we will use six colors (Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow Medium, either Phthalo Green / Permanent Green Light, either Phthalo Blue / Cobalt Blue / Ultramarine Blue, Carbon Black, and Titanium White) to recreate similar colors used in our Seascapes of Maine class. You could use these same colors for any subject matter including florals, landscapes, portraits etc for any of our other classes. I hope this video helps you with mixing colors and provides you new techniques to recreate just about any hue you desire!
Enjoy and as always, thank you for joining me on this art adventure!
